Home prices falling

Unlike many of the coastal regions in the US, Baytown property values are continuing their climb. While we haven't seen the kinds of double-digit increases that some areas in California or South Florida have, our home prices have continued to work their way up.

New mall construction will affect home prices

Everyone's seen the new construction along Bay Vista Highway. But many of you may not be aware of the impact that development will have on your property values. Retail improvements like this directly affect the value of your home. Over the past 20 years, I've appraised properties in cities both before and after the addition of these kinds of developments. I can tell you that normally, you'll see a modest 1% increase in the price of your home.

New Stadium to affect home prices in Baytown

The Baytown Gazzette has posted a piece about the new football stadium being erected in town.

How is this going to affect the price of your home? A quick review of properties in Bay City, who also built a similar facility shows that prices went...

New construction in Baytown

Construction on Highway 121 has begun in ernest. Things should be getting snarled traffic wise over the next few months. Here are some suggestions for getting around:

  • Take Coit road down to the newly completed McDermott exit.
  • Avoid the Preston road intersection, it'll be the worst.
